Company Overview

Axiom Space, established in 2016 by Michael T. Suffredini and Kam Ghaffarian, is a pioneering American aerospace company headquartered in Houston, Texas. The company is at the forefront of commercial space exploration, specializing in human spaceflight services and the development of human-rated space infrastructure. Axiom's mission is to make low Earth orbit accessible to a broader range of participants, including private individuals, corporations, and international space agencies.

A key component of Axiom's strategy is the development of the world's first commercial space station, known as Axiom Station. The modular orbital platform is designed to serve as a successor to the International Space Station (ISS), with plans to commence assembly in the late 2020s. The construction of Axiom Station is underway, with significant progress made in the welding and machining of its primary structures.


In addition to infrastructure development, Axiom Space has successfully conducted private astronaut missions to the ISS. Notably, Axiom Mission 1 (Ax-1) in April 2022 marked the first all-private astronaut mission to the ISS, setting a precedent for future commercial space travel. 

Financially, Axiom Space has demonstrated robust growth, securing $350 million in its Series-C funding round in August 2023. This infusion of capital brought the total funds raised to over $505 million and increased the company's customer contracts to more than $2.2 billion.

The leadership team at Axiom comprises individuals with extensive expertise in areas such as microgravity utilization, on-orbit operations, astronaut training, space medicine, and space system development. This depth of experience positions the company to effectively navigate the complexities of space exploration and commercialization.

Axiom Space is also exploring international collaborations to diversify its supply chain. The company is in discussions with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and private Indian launch companies to utilize Indian launch vehicles for its missions, reflecting a strategic approach to global partnerships.
